Hebrews Part 8 Greatest Warning
Thomas Gue | Sunday, March 12, 2017
Series: Book of Hebrews
Category: General
Passage: Hebrews chapter 6:4-12

The greatest warning in the Bible. These verses are among the hardest in the Bible to understand. If this passage does teach the loss of salvation, then it also teaches that if a person loses it, they can’t get it back. It’s gone. There is no second chance. You cannot get saved again. The text says that if they fall away, it is impossible to renew them again to repentance.
But the problem occurs when we try to balance them with scriptures that speak of eternal security and that is the point of disagreement among theologians.

Passage: Hebrews chapter 5:11 - 6:2

The writer of Hebrews hasn't come right out and said it until now. But he has implied it. There is something wrong with the Christians to whom he is writing. Now he tells us what's wrong.
The problem, as he states in verses 11-14, is they have regressed in their spiritual walk. They have become babes. Is the church today guilty?

The word “therefore” in 4:1 draws a conclusion to the truth the apostle has just presented in ch. 3.Since it was possible that the recipients of this letter might fall into a similar pattern of unbelief and disobedience, he gives an exhortation in light of the promises given in the Son/Revelation: “Let us fear lest any of you seem to come short of it.”
Hebrews Pt 4 The Hard Heart

Passage: Hebrews 3:7-15

God sent Moses to lead the Israelites out of Egypt to the promised land of Cana. It was a trips which should have taken eleven days, but took forty years. Why did it take so long? Hard hearts and unbelief. The warning this morning is against allowing our hearts to become hard as those Israelites. To this day such an attitude persists in people's hearts, which is why the warning found in Hebrews is still needed.

Passage: Hebrews chapter 2

Warning # 1 - Drifting away. In chapter 1 of Hebrews there are no commands for the church. We are not told to do anything. The whole chapter is a declaration and celebration of God's final word to the world — Jesus Christ the Son of God. He has not mentioned a word of application or an exhortation to this point.
But now, as a concerned pastor, he pauses to apply what he has written. It is the first warning.

Passage: Hebrews chapter 1

Introduction to the Book of Hebrews. The book is the Last Word From The First (God).Hebrews is a long book, an important book, but not well-known because pastors don’t like to teach it because of the warning passages. The letter was written because a number of the persecuted Jewish Christians were drifting away from the things they had heard because of the trials and tests. It reminds me of the church today as the end times grow near.
